For over a century this chubby, childish
figure we have come to know as Sunbonnet Sue has embodied the joy of
innocent childhood. From her beginnings as a character in books and
magazines of the late nineteenth century, she has survived the fads of
culture and remained a well-known figure to all quilters, and along the
way she has had some wonderful adventures.
You'll find
Sue decorating a child's nursery, appliquéd onto clothing and decorated with ribbons and lace.
Over the years Sue has been depicted working, playing, and getting up to
mischief.
